2024 Subaru Forester vs 2024 Subaru Outback

Serving Harrisonburg, VA

Subaru is the brand overwhelmingly selected by drivers who need solid performance capabilities and expect great style and features from their next vehicle. The 2024 Subaru Forester and the Outback are top options in the current lineup, and our customers at Bob Wade Subaru often inquire about their differences. What should you know before making your upcoming SUV purchase?

Performance

The 2024 Subaru Forester comes with an 182-horsepower, 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine. All trim levels have all-wheel drive along with a continuously variable auto transmission. Select trims to add multiple drive modes, skid plates, higher ground clearance, and all-terrain tires. The 2024 Outback has the same transmission and engine as the Forester in seven of its nine trim levels. The XT and Wilderness trim levels have a 260-horsepower turbo 2.4-liter, four-cylinder engine. All trims have all-wheel drive and hill descent control, and some add off-road drive modes, a low-range AWD setting, a reinforced roof rack, a lifted suspension, and other equipment.

Appearance

The compact Forester crossover SUV has a tall profile with subtly angled design lines and smooth doors. The classic Subaru grille stretches wide and sits above a geometric fascia. Sharp-angled fog light ports flank this fascia. The LED headlights have a fascinating look with a diamond-like shape and a wraparound light ribbon that spins off on one side. The Outback is a wagon-like crossover with a pinstripe accent line on the door panels and enhanced molding over the wheel wells and door panels. Molding also rises up on the nose to connect with the modern LED headlights. The Outback also shows off the classic Subaru grille, styled with a metallic mesh pattern. The fog lamps are circular and are integrated with the narrow bumper.
