What's New for the 2019 Subaru Forester?

2019 is a big year for the Subaru Forester, as it sees the introduction of completely refreshed model. Trim levels are Touring, Limited, Premium and the brand-new Sport model. The SUV’s ride on the new Global Platform with new levels of agility, quietness and crashworthiness. 2019 Forester is motivated by a 2.5-liter Boxer 4-cylinder engine, now with enhanced fuel injection that bumps horsepower to 182 and torque to 176 lb-ft. The turbocharged engine and manual transmission are deleted for 2019. All trims receive the EyeSight Driver Assist System that includes Lane Departure and Sway Warning, Automatic Pre-Collision Braking, Pre-Collision Throttle Management, Lane Keep Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Lead Vehicle Start Alert. New for 2019 is individual tire monitoring in the Tire Pressure Monitoring System, as well as newly standard Trailer Stability Assist. Higher trims get High Beam Assist and Steering.

Responsive Headlights

Forester Touring gets a new level of safety technology called DriverFocus, a driver monitoring system that detects distraction and fatigue. The system recognizes up to five different drivers and automatically restores remembered settings for climate control, seat position, multifunction display and more. The 2019 Forester is more comfortable, thanks to more comfortable seats, space-freeing electronic parking brake, standard automatic climate control, available three-stage heated front seats, heated rear seats in the Touring model, and keyless access with push-button start on higher trims. Interior space increases by 1.4 cubic feet, the load floor is flatter, and the rear gate opening has been widened by 5.3 inches. The rear gate is powered on higher trims.

The new Forester Sport features a special version of Subaru Intelligent Drive, high-beam assist, LED fog lights, All-Weather Package. The exterior is equipped with black-finish 18-in. wheels, a sport grille with black gloss finish frame, turn-signal-integrated exterior mirrors, rear roof spoiler, orange accents on the black roof rail mounts and underguards. Its interior has a unique dark gray upholstery with orange accents and stitching, combination meter and multifunction display, cargo area tray and LED light, and a rear-gate LED flood light.
