2019 Subaru Forester vs 2019 Acura RDX

Proudly Serving Harrisonburg, VA

Having an all-new design, the 2019 Subaru Forester confidently enters the market for crossover SUVs. The 2019 Acura RDX is a luxurious crossover SUV that retains many features from previous years. More than 10 accident-avoidance amenities are available in the Forester, including the new DriveFocus technology. The STARLINK Multimedia system has also been updated in this premium Subaru.

Handling

Keeping up with tradition, the 2019 Subaru Forester is driven by the Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. By distributing the ideal amount of torque to the front and rear wheels, this signature AWD maximizes traction in various conditions. Torque is uniformly directed by the Lineartronic Continuously Variable Transmission, which has been on the auto market for quite some time. This CVT is capable of doing much more than just delivering a large range of gear ratios. For example, the Adaptive Control takes into account your previous driving habits during gear changes. Select trims have multiple manual modes in the Lineartronic transmission system. Additionally, the Incline Start Assist gives you extra time to quickly shift from park into an appropriate driving mode. Although it's versatile, the 2019 Acura RDX's automatic transmission can't produce more than 10 gear speeds. You have to use an electronic control panel to select settings for the gearbox. Paddle shifters with the Sequential SportShift technology provide extra options for this automatic transmission. When it comes to off-road and all-weather performance, Acura Super Handling AWD is on the same level as the Symmetrical AWD. However, some of the RDX trims come with a conventional front-wheel drive (FWD) that isn't engineered to handle tough conditions. The X-MODE also gives the 2019 Forester a major advantage in all-terrain handling.

Active Safety

Subaru unveiled the all-new DriveFocus system in the 2019 Forester. This sophisticated technology monitors numerous parameters to determine the risk level of an accident on the road. For instance, the system could recognize dangerous driving behavior that's most likely caused by drowsiness or distractions. Of course, the Forester retains many of the features that are part of the well-established EyeSight Driver Assist package. The Reverse Automatic Braking is capable of slamming on the brakes if other cars or pedestrians are detected in your desired path. Forward collisions might be prevented by the Pre-Collision Braking and Adaptive Cruise Control. When a front impact seems likely, the Pre-Collision Throttle Management immediately decreases engine output. Additionally, the Blind Spot Detection and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert could sense imminent side collisions. When the Forester swerves or drifts out of control, the Lane Keep Assist will overtake the steering system. You might also get a head's up from the Sway Warning and Lane Departure Warning. The AcuraWatch package offers reliable accident-avoidance technology, but the 2019 Forester is still the clear winner in active safety.

Digital Technology

Installed in the 2019 Forester's central dashboard, the 8.0-inch Subaru STARLINK Multimedia system delivers an abundance of digital applications. The 2019 Acura RDX offers a 10.2-inch HD monitor that stands above the dashboard. Both infotainment systems have GPS navigation software with other services that provide trustworthy guidance. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are some of the smartphone-optimized amenities in these crossover SUVs. The sound system in the 2019 Forester is available with nine premium speakers by Harman Kardon. Featuring a 576-watt amplifier, this audio system surely beats the RDX's ELS Studio audio system. Pandora, Aha and Stitcher offer plenty of streaming choices inside this Subaru model, which is also connected to SiriusXM. You don't have as many music channels available in the 2019 RDX.
