For a lower cost, you get a bigger engine in the Outback than the Crosstour as well as more torque and better fuel economy. The outback gets 25 city miles per gallon and 33 highway miles per gallon versus 22 city miles per gallon and 31 highway miles per gallon in the Crosstour. Also, the Outback is equipped with a Lineartronic 6-speed continuously variable electronically controlled manually interactive automatic transmission, which provides a smoother ride. It is also equipped with Overdrive and Tow/Haul/Snow mode, something not available in the Crosstour. Ultimately the Subaru Outback will save you money up front and at the pump for years to come. 

Comfort and Convenience

One of the most coveted features in the Subaru Outback is its standard all-wheel drive, which is not available in the Honda Crosstour EX. When comparing the upgraded Subaru Outback 2.5i Premium with the Honda Crosstour, you still end up paying less than the Honda Crosstour EX, while getting many comfort and convenience features found in the Crosstour. Standard interior features in the 2.5i Premium include power lumbar support, power driver's seat, fold-down rear center armrest, and fold-down rear seatbacks. One great feature found standard in the Outback Premium is heated seats, which are unavailable in the comparable Crosstour. The Outback is also equipped with a leather wrapped steering wheel, again not available in the Crosstour EX. The Outback is also outfitted with a standard 6.2 inch infotainment system, which includes USB ports, Bluetooth® audio streaming, and hands-free phone connectivity. The Outback also provides more front headroom, rear headroom, front and rear legroom, and front and rear shoulder room than the Crosstour. 

Safety and Security

The 2015 Subaru Outback also excels when it comes to safety and security features. The 2015 Subaru outback was given a 5 star overall front driver crash test rating as well as a 5 star front passenger crash test rating by the NHTSA. Standard safety features include 4-wheel antilock brakes, Brake Assist, Vehicle Dynamics Control, Traction Control System, Tire Pressure Monitoring System, and rear vision camera. The Outback is also equipped with dual-stage deployment airbags, including advanced frontal airbags, side curtain airbags, front seat side pelvis airbags, drivers and passenger seat cushion airbags, brake override system, and collapsible steering column, which absorbs energy in the event of a crash. You will also find an anti-theft security system and keyless access. While many of these features are available in the Crosstour, they come at a higher price tag.
