2025 Subaru Ascent vs 2024 Subaru Ascent

Serving Harrisonburg, VA

Subaru introduced the midsize Ascent crossover SUV in 2019 to enthusiastic auto shoppers. This three-row model can seat up to eight passengers and is practical for work and play. In 2024 and 2025, the Subaru Ascent continues to be a first-generation model. However, with notable updates to the 2025 Ascent, there are important differences between the 2024 and 2025 versions.

Performance

For 2024 and 2025, all Ascent trim levels continue to have all-wheel drive. The base trim level is deleted in 2024, so the entry-level trim in 2025 is the Premium. In addition, the Bronze Edition and Onyx Edition Touring trims are added to the lineup. Across all trim levels for 2024 and 2025, the exclusive engine is a four-cylinder, turbo 2.4-liter engine. This is a 260-horsepower unit that comes with a continuously variable auto transmission. All-wheel drive is standard for every trim level.

Appearance

The new Bronze Edition adds bronze trim, badging and 20-inch alloy wheels to the façade. The Onyx Edition features a black roof spoiler, grille, 2-inch alloy wheels and trim. Except for these improvements, the Ascent's exterior is unchanged. This spacious SUV shows off long, slightly angled surfaces across the profile as well as a thin band of lower-body molding. The sides are styled with a deep, horizontal accent running along the top of the door panels. On the front end, the tall grille is dressed up with horizontal crossbars. A body-colored crossbar holds the logo and extends to the innovative, dual-elemental LED headlights.

Features

The Subaru Ascent is nicely appointed across its trim levels. Lower-level trims come with a six-speaker sound system, cloth seats, heated front seats, a leather-covered steering wheel and shifter knob, an 11.6-inch infotainment system screen, a three-zone auto climate control system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, trailer sway damping, a blind-spot warning system, adaptive cruise control, forward collision mitigation and others. The higher trim levels add a panoramic sunroof, a push-button starter, water-repellent synthetic leather upholstery, a heated steering wheel, second-row sunshades, an intercom system, a 360-degree surround-view camera, and more.
