Serving Harrisonburg, VA
While numerous crossover SUV models are on the market today, you may be drawn to the Subaru line because of the brand's recognized reputation for manufacturing rugged, well-equipped vehicles. Crossovers like the Forester and the Outback could be great options for you, but how do these models stack up to each other? A close review will reveal numerous differences as well as a few similarities.
Performance
In all six of the 2023 Forester's trim levels, a 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine produces 182 horsepower. This engine comes with all-wheel drive and an auto continuously variable transmission. Higher trims may also be available with extra drive modes and a lifted suspension. This same 182-horsepower engine is offered in the Subaru Outback's lower trims. In the higher Outback trims, a 260-horsepower, turbocharged engine is standard. Some Outback trims have a suspension lift, drive modes for off-road performance, and hill descent control.
Appearance
When you compare the 2023 Forester to the 2023 Outback, you may quickly notice that they share the same grille shape. They also have diamond-shaped headlights with LED enhancements and prominent, black molding from end to end. Both models display thicker molding across the lower doors and the wheel wells. The Forester has a metallic front skid plate and a fairly level profile. The Outback has a black skid plate, round foglights, and a forward-leaning profile.
Features
The Subaru Forester and the Outback are both well-appointed across their trim levels and offer many of the same features. Equipment available in both models includes Android Auto, heated seats across the back and front rows, Apple CarPlay, forward collision mitigation, a heated steering wheel, auto climate management, a power liftgate, a Harman Kardon sound system, leather seats, a navigation system, driver's memory functions, and a driver monitor system. If you decide to drive the Outback, your crossover may also have a frontal collision mitigation system, rear auto braking, contrast stitching, and a digital rear mirror.
