2021 Subaru Outback vs 2020 Subaru Outback
Serving Harrisonburg, VA
The Subaru Outback does not have many changes in 2021 compared to the Outback in 2020. The 2021 Outback carries over with the same award-winning safety technology, power, and creature comforts that it offered before. Exceptional ground clearance is still a highlight of the Outback in 2021, and it comes with many opportunities for a custom finish.
Performance
There are two different engines offered for the Subaru Outback in both the 2021 and 2020 model years. The first engine, which powers the Base through Touring trims, is a 2.5L with four cylinders. This engine creates up to 182 HP in peak power, and it delivers up to 176 LB-FT in torque. On the XT models, you'll get a more powerful engine with a 2.4L displacement. This engine increases the Outback's power output to 260 HP and 277 LB-FT of torque. Both engines get a continuously variable automatic transmission, and you can get all-wheel drive across the board.
Appearance
The Subaru Outback's appearance is the same in 2021 and 2020. LED lights are standard on the base model in both years. Raised roof rails with integrated crossbars are included on all trim levels. Starting with the second trim level, you can get more exterior features such as LED fog lights. The Limited gets 18-inch alloy wheels and a power rear gate with hands-free operation. The Touring gets a moonroof. The XT trims have their unique exterior accents, including 18-inch alloy wheels with a black paint finish. All trims have 8.7 inches of ground clearance.
Features
Many features are standard and available on the Subaru Outback in 2021 and 2020. The base model comes with a Starlink system that includes Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Starting with the second trim, you can upgrade to a more massive 11.6-inch Multimedia Plus infotainment center. Dual-zone climate control is included, and you can select an all-weather package that adds heated front seats. Leather upholstery is standard on the Limited trim, which also upgrades to a premium 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system. Nappa leather-trimmed seats and a heated steering wheel are added to the Touring. Water-repellent upholstery, keyless entry, and a push-button start are standard amenities on the XT trim levels. Navigation is also added to the Limited XT. A driver-assist safety package is included on all trim levels of the 2021 and 2020 Subaru Outback.
