2020 Subaru Legacy vs 2020 Nissan Altima

Serving Harrisonburg, VA

The Subaru Legacy has always been a popular sedan choice for those who place comfort, drivability, and safety above all other considerations. This model features standard all-wheel drive and comes with a full suite of driver aids and safety systems. For 2020, the deal gets even sweeter. The 2020 Legacy has been fully redesigned and now boasts a near-luxurious interior with a slew of advanced high-tech equipment.

The 2020 Nissan Altima is also redesigned, and it now comes with a better list of standard features. However, its interior is a bit dated, and some of the materials are below average in quality. Also, some of the desired safety systems are optional, and not all of them are available on the lower trims. Below, the two models are compared in more detail.

Interior Design

The interior dimensions of the Legacy haven't changed much, but those who have driven this model in the past will be quite pleased with the upgrades for 2020. The seats are more comfortable than ever before, and the trim finishes and accents are close to luxurious. The uplevel trims come with some fantastic material upgrades, and the leather upholstery on the Limited trim is of higher quality than in previous years. The Legacy also has thin, tall roof pillars, and this makes for excellent outward visibility. The forward control panel has been reconfigured and is now easier than ever to navigate.

The 2020 Altima gets a refresh as well, but the interior hasn't changed much in terms of materials or quality. Also, the high rear decklid means poor rearward visibility. The dashboard design is unique but presents a reflective problem for the driver in bright sunlight conditions.

Standard Safety Features

The Subaru EyeSight suite of safety features and driver aids is standard across the Legacy trim lineup. Included are a rearview camera, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane centering, and lane departure warning. Buyers need not worry about safety feature add-ons because all of the systems are standard even on the base trim. The Legacy comes with an all-time all-wheel drive, and the vehicle performs admirably in wet or snowy weather conditions. This means lower insurance rates even for teen drivers.

The 2020 Nissan Altima comes with a frontal collision warning and a rearview camera, but the camera is low-resolution. Buyers must purchase additional safety systems such as blind-spot monitoring and lane departure warning as stand-alone options, and the ProPilot Assist suite is available only on the higher trims.

Package Options

The 2020 Legacy comes with some appealing options choices, including a lovely 11.6-inch screen display and the Cold Weather package. Packages that upgraded the interior trim and accents are also available. The 2020 Nissan Altima comes with few optional add-on features, and most of the luxury features such as a Bose audio system and a 360-degree parking camera are only available on the two top trims. Packages for the 2020 Legacy, on the other hand, are available regardless of the trim level.
