Performance

The Crosstrek and Impreza 5-door have the same standard engine, horsepower, and torque. While the Crosstrek has a slightly larger fuel tank -- 16.6 gallons versus 13.2 gallons in the Impreza -- the Impreza gets slightly better gas mileage both in the city and on the highway. The Crosstrek also boasts a 1500 pound towing capacity. Both vehicles include all-season tires to help them conquer any driving condition.

Appearance

While these vehicles provide the same amount of room in their interiors, the Crosstrek has a slightly larger body and exterior. The Impreza and Crosstrek are both available in eight different exterior colors and two interior colors. The Impreza's exterior color choices are shades of red (crimson red pearl and lithium red pearl), black (crystal black silica), white (crystal white pearl), silver (ice silver metallic and magnetite gray metallic), and blue (dark blue pearl and ocean blue pearl) with a combination of either black or ivory interior. The Crosstrek's interior is available as either black or gray, and it's exterior is available in a wider range of colors -- greige (cool gray khaki), black (crystal black silica), white (crystal white pearl), blue (horizon blue pearl and ocean blue pearl), silver (ice silver metallic), yellow (plasma yellow pearl), or red.

Safety

Both vehicles include a 3-year/36,000 mile warranty. A number of safety features are also included, such as 4-wheel anti-lock brakes, dual front airbags, and front-seat side-impact airbags. The Impreza 5-door comes standard with active front-seat head restraints and boasts a 5-star safety rating for both the front driver and front passenger crash tests. The Crosstrek also achieved an above-average NHTSA crash test rating of 4-star for drivers and passengers.
