2020 Subaru Crosstrek vs 2020 Subaru Forester

Serving Harrisonburg, VA

The Crosstrek and the Forester are both compact crossover SUVs that take a central position in Subaru's current lineup. The Crosstrek sits directly below the Forester in the SUV line, and it is priced at a slightly more affordable level. However, both of these impressive vehicles are loaded with exciting features and overall value. Our associates at Bob Wade Autoworld will support you as you get the full scoop on these popular models.

Performance

The 2020 Crosstrek is offered in three trims with a gas-powered, 2.0-liter BOXER engine. This engine is tied to a six-speed manual transmission or a Lineartronic auto transmission, and it gives you 152 horsepower. A fourth Crosstrek trim is available with a hybrid powertrain, and it produces 148 total horsepower. All Crosstrek trims are outfitted with symmetrical all-wheel drive. In comparison, the 2020 Subaru Forester is equipped with the same 2.5-liter Boxer engine across all five trim levels, and this engine generates 182 horsepower. The Forester is also equipped with Subaru Intelligent Drive technology.

Appearance

These two Subaru crossover SUVs have the same ground clearance, but the Forester has slightly larger dimensions in all directions. The Crosstrek's profile is noticeably tapered with an angled front windshield that deviates only slightly from the hood's angle. Likewise, the roof curves into the liftgate effortlessly. On the other hand, the Forester has a taller and flatter hood with more robust angles across the front and rear windshields. While these models have apparent design differences, they share some exterior features. These include up to 18-inch wheels, all-season tires, steering-responsive LED headlights, a power moonroof, roof rails, a rear spoiler, and other gear. The availability of these features for both models is trim-dependent.

Features

When you check out the interiors of these Subaru crossover SUVs, you will notice some variations in their designs. However, most of the features that are found across the full Crosstrek trim lineup are available in various trims for the Forester. These features include an 8-inch touch display screen for the multimedia system, a navigation system, a Harman Kardon sound system, an auto climate control system, heated front seats, a heated and leather steering wheel, paddle shifters, keyless access, and other equipment. The Crosstrek is available with wireless internet connectivity and a few other items not available in any of the Forester's trim levels. On the other hand, the Forester is available with a dual-zone climate management system and a few additional features.
