 What's New for the 2024 Subaru Outback?

The compact Subaru Outback has long been recognized as a cross between an SUV and a wagon with rugged capabilities. With a few exciting updates, this crossover's strong appeal with Harrisonburg-area drivers grows in the 2024 model. The Outback Wilderness trim level is designed explicitly with great off-road functionality, including higher ground clearance, extra body cladding, and other equipment. In 2024, the Wilderness trim shows off a redesigned nose with updates to the LED foglights, grille, and bumper. If you choose to drive the Onyx Edition, your 2024 Outback will now have a Harman Kardon audio system and a heated steering wheel.

Another important improvement to the 2024 Outback is more power from the four-cylinder, 2.5-liter engine. This powertrain now produces 182 horsepower. In addition, the continuously variable auto transmission has been replaced with an eight-speed auto transmission. The standard turbocharged four-cylinder engine in the higher trims continues to produce 260 horsepower and connects to a continuously variable transmission. All Outback trims have all-wheel drive.

With the exception of the updates mentioned, the 2024 Outback is comparable to the 2023 model year. The style continues to have an extended, lean profile with stronger molding over the front air vents, the side doors, and the wheel fenders. The headlights flanking the hexagon-like grille add personality with their multi-pronged LED bar. Exterior features may include 17-inch wheels or larger, roof rails, crossbars, a power liftgate, a sunroof, and heated mirrors.

Depending on the trim selected, the 2024 Subaru Outback may come with auto climate control, forward collision mitigation, lane keeping, adaptive cruise control, heated front seats, wireless connections for the smartphone apps, an 11.6-inch infotainment system screen with touch controls, a 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, evasive steering assist, a heated steering wheel, a navigation system, pedestrian detection, a front-view camera, a digital rearview mirror and many additional features.
