 What's New for the 2022 Subaru Outback?
For drivers in the Harrisonburg area who need a new crossover with the functionality necessary to keep up with their active lifestyle, the Subaru Outback perfectly fits the bill. The 2022 Outback is more robust than ever, thanks to introducing the Outback Wilderness trim level. The Wilderness is a beefier version of the already sporty Outback, and it boasts extensive molding from end to end for added protection in rugged driving conditions. It also has more substantial ground clearance for enhanced maneuverability.
On the inside, the new Outback Wilderness gets waterproof upholstery on the seats and in the cargo area, and waterproof rear cargo trays enhance this. This is the only trim level to have copper seat accents. An 11.6-inch display screen in the dashboard's center also sets the Wilderness trim level apart from the other Outback versions. It has a unique interface and a vertical stance for added differentiation. Under the hood, the 2022 Subaru Outback Wilderness has a 260-horsepower, turbo 2.4-liter engine. This is the same engine that has been in the XT trim level for a few years. However, minor tweaks have enhanced its horsepower output for 2022.
The entire trim lineup from 2021 carries up to the 2022 model year without any notable changes. All trims for both model years have premium EyeSight assistive safety technologies like adaptive cruise control, lane centering assist, forward collision mitigation, and other equipment. Most of the trim levels for both years also have the same 182-horsepower, 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine. In addition to these similarities, you may also be pleased to discover that all of the features that you appreciated from the 2021 Outback trim levels are also in the 2022 Outback. Depending on the trim that you prefer, your 2022 Outback could have a heated steering wheel, heated front seats, a sunroof, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, an auto climate management system, and more.
