Performance

Subaru models are equipped with the Boxer engine that delivers solid performance for various driving conditions. Having cylinders that are oriented in a horizontal configuration, the signature Boxer engine performs better than comparable engines with cylinders that have inline or V formations. Some of the Boxer engines are available with turbochargers in order to optimize power and torque at relatively low tachometer readings. Subaru also strives to make its models qualify for the Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle (PZEV) label. Another innovative mechanical feature in Subaru vehicles is the Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive (AWD), which is engineered to provide a good grip on the road. In fact, Subaru is one of the few auto makers to offer AWD in its lineup of sedans such as the Legacy and WRX. Subaru also offers the patented Lineartronic Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) system that delivers an infinite combination of gear rations. Such an advanced transmission works smoothly with the Symmetrical AWD and Boxer engines. Designed to offer precise control of the powertrain, an electric power steering system also comes standard in many Subaru models.

Safety

Subaru has developed the EyeSight technology to improve safety in many of its models. This patented package includes the Pre-Collision Braking system, which can automatically control the brakes if a front crash is imminent. The Subaru's Adaptive Cruise Control can also reduce the likelihood of collisions with other vehicles ahead on the highway. The EyeSight technology includes the Blind Spot Detection system, which issues visible alerts in the exterior side mirrors. This feature is paired with the Rear Cross Traffic Alert to minimize side collisions. Subaru also offers the STARLINK Safety and Security system, which is very useful right after accidents and other trouble on the road. With the touch of the button, the driver or passengers in a Subaru can activate the Automatic Collision Notification, Enhanced Roadside Assistance and Remote Services. In the passive safety category, Subaru vehicles are available with a driver's knee air bag, side-curtain air bags and front seat-mounted air bags that deploy at the torso level.

Technology

Subaru vehicles can be equipped with the STARLINK infotainment system, which delivers accurate GPS-based directions and many other helpful applications. This signature multimedia hub provides access to popular entertainment apps such as Pandora, Aha and SiriusXM Satellite Radio. The STARLINK hub works well with most smartphones including iPhones and Android devices. Some Subaru models can be equipped with a Harman Kardon audio system that delivers great acoustics. For example, the Subaru Forester comes with an eight-speaker sound system by this popular brand. Some high-tech features that usually come standard in most Subaru models include wireless Bluetooth technology for seamless integration of mobile devices.
